Re-review of the Hummingbird

I've changed my mind.
The Hummingbird from Babeland Toys is actually a pretty great little toy!
See, I am nothing if not loyal. And with my vibrator, I may be a little too loyal. I try other vibes out so I can do reviews, but for "me time," all I ever use is my trusty Wild G Rabbit. That thing is like my second lover. End of a BDSM scene? Get the Rabbit G. End of sex? Finish me off with the Rabbit G. Want an orgasm but too tired to have sex? Have my husband use the Rabbit G. Stressed out and want to relax? Get out the Rabbit G.

I love my rabbit vibrator so much that I broke it once and spent the ridiculous $65 to buy another one and have it shipped to us before our honeymoon... because, folks, it's worth it. I'm not the kind of woman to spend more than $25 on a pair of jeans, but for my all-time favorite, super-duper best friend the Rabbit G, I'll fork over the money!

But I think I started to overuse it. We had sex like 5 times in 48 hours, and each time after he finished, we used the rabbit on me. At first, it was phenomenal. The second time, it was okay. The third... well, it took me so long to come it started to get annoying instead of sexy. By the fourth time, I was whimpering a little bit in protest when my habit-forming husband did what we always do after sex: got out the Rabbit G. The fifth time, I lay in bed exhausted, kissed him on the forehead, and encouraged him to go off to class without worrying about me.

But I still wanted that orgasm.

Obviously, my friend the rabbit had been overused in too short a time and my clit was no longer interested in his attentions. I wondered if any of my other vibes---the ones I tried a few times for a review and then discarded unceremoniously because they didn't match up to my rabbit---would work.

After my Dom had left for class, I spent some time in bed, peering into our Sex Toy Drawer and wondering which one of the sex toys within should be brought out, dusted off, washed, and used. Honestly, I wasn't holding out much hope. But it was worth a shot.

I finally decided I wanted to use this one, a neat little toy that had been my favorite before I discovered the Rabbit G. I looked, but I couldn't find the darn thing! I finally vaguely remembered that it had broken and I had thrown it away since I didn't use it that much anyway, ever since the Rabbit G moved in.

Too bad.
With a sigh, I got out this and this. I figured they would be close to the intense clit stimulation I would need and had gotten used to with the Rabbit G. I remembered having 1 (one!!!) good orgasm with the Hummingbird that I had never, after much trying, been able to re-create. I also remembered that when I bought it from Babeland, I'd been really excited to try it out because it had this yummy-looking clit cradle that I now thought might give me some good all-around vulva stimulation. Just in case that didn't work, I kept out the barely-used Aqua Wand to see if maybe its clitoral stimulating abilities would be better than my first try.

Wow.

Wow!

It took me a while to get the Hummingbird to a place where I was as turned on as I used to get with my trust old rabbit, but once I was there.... wow.

I kept changing the position, feeling the hollowed-out end cradling my clit, then my right labia, then my lips and my clit, then my other labia. I felt my insides swell out and push out that hot, clear liquid that my husband loves so much. (Take that, author of Female Ejaculation and the G-Spot! It is possible to ejaculate just from stimulation on your clit!) Then, I had that wonderful feeling when you know you're going to orgasm. And finally, I did.

Once I was all cleaned up and still glowing from the bask of a new, stronger orgasm than I'd ever had with this old vibrator, I wrote my husband a blog that went something like this:

My clit and pussy and uterus are trembling from the resounding tingle
leftover in my veins from when the little gray vibrator brought me to new
heights and beyond.

So, this is the lesson I learned today: no matter how wonderful and fulfilling and great your one favorite vibe may feel, sometimes it is important to give Old Faithful a rest and try something new, even if it's something you didn't like all that much before. It's very possible for your body to dislike something and a few months or years later, find it terribly orgasmic. Change is good. Change is sexy. Change is the key.

Welcome back, Hummingbird!

Addicted to Vibes?

Here's something about vibrators that the sex stores won't tell you.

Sure, vibes are great, and they come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and intensities, so it never hurts to have a few (although I only use my favorite one or two). But overusing them can make your body rely too much on a vibe. Read: you can't orgasm without one anymore.

As much as I love my little purple rabbit vibe from AdultToyShoppe, it can't come close to giving me the pleasure, emotions, and orgasms like my loving human mate. Plus, once you use a vibrator that much, the orgasms become less intense and, well, less enjoyable. Your body gets used to that same ol' feeling, and it becomes to feel "old hat."

Well, I was having trouble orgasming with my partner at all, so we'd become more and more reliant on the rabbit vibe, or its pink counterpart from France, to finish me off. Eventually, I found I could only come with the vibe. Why? A human finger or tongue just can't vibrate like a battery-operated machine.

I scoured the web and found this is actually pretty common. So a word of warning: enjoy your vibes, but don't let them become a staple. It's the fine print those sex toy stores don't let you know. Sure, a vibe is great for some help or for a lonely night, but don't let it replace a human touch. Because that, after all, is what making love is all about.

Review: Boss Lady and Angel Vibes

Babeland is always having awesome sales, and I love their current one! I've been drooling over their We-Vibe (a yummy-looking deluxe hands-free vibrator you can wear during sex) for months, and right now they're offering $20 off the vibrator, plus a free BabeLicious.

If the We-Vibe doesn't tickle your fancy, I propose two other vibrators you can get from Babeland: The Boss Lady and the Angel.

The reason I propose them together is because, well... together they rock! I've been playing around with them singly, and they are fun, but together... whoa.

Let me explain.

What is so cool about these toys is that they are both G-spot toys and they are also both vibrators. Their special curved tip makes for great G-spot stimulation, but the fact that they vibrate means they can feel great against your clit, too. This is one reason I love vibrating G-spot toys, because they are so versatile.

The Angel vibe is shown below:
What I love about the Angel is that this unique vibe has a shape you won't find anywhere else. It's small and fits inside easily, and it's terribly comfortable. The curved tip makes for easy G-spot fun, but what I adored about this vibe was that the same slender, curved tip feels awesome on my clit! I can use this vibe as a G-toy, clit toy, or both.

Angel is small (about 4 inches) and compact, so great for travelers like me. It also has eight intensity levels so I never got bored, and also three different pulsation patterns. Because it is so small, lightweight, comfortable, and can be used on my G-spot to warm up and then my clit to finish off, this has become my #1 traveling vibrator.

So I got this great idea to try the Angel together with the Boss Lady (shown at left). Wow!

The Boss Lady is thick and hard, so I enjoy it when I'm wanting a sense of fullness inside me. My Dom enjoyed using it with me and watching my face! The vibrations are really powerful, and the curved tip also provides for really good G-spot stimulation. The Boss Lady is also hefty and hard enough that it can be used as a great dildo even without the vibrations. However, this silicone I found to be a bit harder than some other vibrators, so I would recommend using it only with lots of lubricant. I tried it without lube, and even though I was wet and ready, the Boss Lady irritated my skin. Once I applied some lube, though, I had no problems.

So my genius idea was to slide the Angel into my G-spot to warm me up. Once I was ready, I used the Boss Lady to deliver powerful vibrations inside me while I held the tip of the Angel on my clit, using different speeds to keep my turned on. It felt great, so I highly recommend these toys together! However, it's a bit hard to wield the two vibes together without a partner helping, so invite your partner to hold one for you so you can enjoy the ride.

I enjoyed both the Angel and the Boss Lady, especially in tandem. But if you only want one vibe, I'd go with the Angel because it is so comfortable and versatile. Either way, it's a fun buy!

Review: Leather Slapper

The Handy Slapper from Babeland was my first slapper... and I love it!

Well, I guess that is an overstatement. The truth would be that while I enjoyed it, and now have a strange love/fear/hate relationship with the slapper, my Dom loooooooved it. So BDSM lovers, whether you are wanting to begin exploring kink with some light slapping or you're a seasoned BDSM vet, hang on tight, cuz you'll adore this slapper!

First, the slapper is only $35 dollars, which is cheaper than the leather goods you generally find commercially. It is made of real leather, and it is delicate and small (only 10" long). The leather strap for hanging it up after play is quite "handy" (haha?) and you will be surprised at how much pain you can create with this tiny strap.

I originally got this as a gift for my Dom. Of course, I was quite pleased with myself, thinking anything so light and small would do no more than sting a bit, so everyone wins. Ha!

When the package arrived in the mail, I swear my Dom's eyes lit up. Before I knew it I was bent down over the kitchen counter where the mail had been opened, pants around my ankles, whining while I was being lightly whipped with the slapper while he eagerly tried out his new toy. (As per basic safety protocol, he tried every stroke out on his own bare skin before testing it on mine to ensure he knew how hard he could hit--this worked both for and against me, as it is safer this way, but it also meant when I whined that he was hurting me he just laughed and told me to shut up, because he'd just tried the same stroke on himself.)

Well, here I thought we were coming home from the store and going to watch a movie. Instead, I was being held down over the counter, his grip on my hair yanking my head sharply back, while he slapped my bare thighs and ass again and again, the strokes growing in intensity. And it hurt!

If you are a spanking beginner, don't let this scare you. I assure you this light slapper will be just as fun doing some light sensation play on your lover's skin. Depending on how hard you hit, it doesn't have to hurt at all.

My Dom is just wonderfully evil. :)

Once he got this in his hand, he was rock-hard against me and I was being whipped with the small leather strap, wiggling and protesting and moaning against the kitchen counter. We started out in our mundane vanilla lives, and next thing I knew I was coming all over the kitchen floor.

Yay, Handy Slapper.

My advice? Buy it, buy it, buy it. It's much better than cleaning the kitchen sink to get your woman (or man!) in the mood. I can't imagine hotter and more kinky foreplay than we had with this slapper, and subsequent play sessions have not left me disappointed. When he uses it lightly, I get a light smack; when he slaps me hard, I am left with welts that last til the next day. Whether you want to leave your lover's skin completely blemish free or leave marks for a few days, this slapper is well worth the money!

I love it!

And my Dom does, too.

Everyone's happy!

Review: Retractable Heart Vibe

The retractable heart vibe from Babeland is only $15 and the mini buzzing bullet can be used in a vibrating dildo. I received this mini heart vibe, excited at the possibilities for discreet "out on the town" usage my Dom and I could get from this.... we envisioned me using the vibe while the 30" cord allowed one of us to use the pink heart control.
As far as toys go, this one wasn't my favorite. Alone, the vibe is too small to do much good anywhere. It can be inserted into a vibrating dildo and used that way, of course (try Babeland's Leo or Feeldoe for starters). But I wouldn't get it to use on its own.
Thankfully, the watch batteries the vibe requires are included in the set. They even added a second set of batteries for good measure, which I appreciated. The black cord is easy to pull out and retract, and the push-button control is fairly self-explanatory. Still, the vibe is way too loud to be used for kinky "out on the town" nights like the Babeland ad claims. Babeland has the volume listed at a 2 and the intensity at a 3, but personally I'd say the volume was a 3 and the intensity was a 1. It's not too loud to be used at home alone, but definitely not in public.
If you are looking for a cheap vibe, Babeland has lots of great buys for under $30. I would recommend the Pocket Rocket or Orchid G (my all-time favorite vibe from this store!) or some of the other awesome cheap toys they have in their "Under $30" section, such as nipple clamps or anal beads. If you have (or want to buy) a vibrating dildo to use this bullet vibe with, go for it, but for solo use, stick with the Orchid G!

Review: Wild G Rabbit Vibe

The Wild G Rabbit Vibe from TheAdulteToyShoppe.com is one of the most expensive toys I've had the pleasure to review on this site (pun intended), but despite its cost, my recommendation is: Buy it, buy it, buy it!

Rarely can I say, with such emphatic certainty, that there is something in this vibe for everyone. The Wild G costs $65.99, and it is worth every penny.

Why can I sing the praises of this rabbit vibrator? Well, for starters, this was my first rabit vibe. I was excited to try it out, but once it arrived, I'll be honest--I was terrified. The thing was 10 inches long and 1.75 inches around! I was afraid it would be too big or painful for easy insertion.

I was wrong. I asked my partner to warm me up beforehand to allow easier insertion, and he did beautifully. Fifteen minutes later, the vibe slid in with no size problems at all--even without lube! In fact, in that aroused state, I loved the feel of size and largeness inside me. Then my world changed. He turned it on, and I immediately had the strongest vaginal orgasm I have ever had! Ten minutes later, with my partner's help, I'd come, and come, and come again. On each of the three vibrating intensities and each of the three rotating intensities, I came. We finished, and we were both a fan. I haven't been disappointed since, and each time we use it I am able to have multiple orgasms, and of far superior quality to the ones that come from vibes with just clitoral stimulation; while the orgasms aren't quite as intense when I use it myself as when I have my partner participate, it is still my new favorite toy.

The Wild G Rabbit Vibe is silicone, which means it is easy to sterilize and also a soft jelly material that gives and does not hurt like many hard plastic vibes out there. The clit stimulator is not a true "rabbit" in that it does not have two pronged rabbit ears that nestle your clit, but rather one strong nub that fits right onto it. I was afraid when the vibe was inserted the rabbit would not reach my clit correctly, but the two vibrating prongs beneath it ensure that if the main nub does not fit exactly on your clit, one of the prongs will. The whole experience is of very intense vulval stimulation that I've never found in another vibe, even the Laya.

As for the insertable, the silicone made it comfortable and smooth inside. The vibrations inside are nice, more gentle than the intense shaking you get from the rabbit outside, and the rotating beads massage the inside of your vagina right at the entrance. My favorite part, however, is the rotating head, which touches my G-spot and vaginal canal with rhythmic thrusts that made my intense and body-shuddering internal orgasms possible.

If you want a good sex toy for women, I honestly can't see a downside to this vibe. It's waterproof, versatile, comfy, easy to clean, and provides stimulation in several areas so that everyone is guaranteed to get something out of their wild ride with the Wild G.

Review: Aqua Wand Vibrator

The Aqua Wand from Babeland is delicate, discreet, and economical. If you are looking for a small toy to add to your "on-the-go" collection, the Aqua Wand will do the trick.
This toy is only a little over 5 inches long, and 3/4 of an inch around, so it is small enough to be portable anywhere. Because I travel a lot internationally, I like this, and would probably chose this toy for a long trip since it will fit in my purse or carryon and is less likely to draw astonished attention from an airport security employee.
The Aqua Wand takes 2 AAA batteries, and I was very impressed by its intensity. I need a medium-strong vibration to get off, so many toys this delicate and small don't do the trick, but this one did. The wand does not have multiple speeds or settings, so it won't work well for those of you needing variable speeds, but I like strong, fast orgasms from one high speed so I can't complain!
The only downfall I could really see for this little waterproof toy? It was cold!!! The head of the wand is metal, and I don't want any cold metal touching my clit. I tried it at first, and yeow! My partner and I fixed this problem by turning the vibe on and heating it up against our skin before applying it directly to my clit. Once it was warmed up, the vibe worked fine.
If you are interested in the Aqua Wand from Babeland, it is only $20 plus shipping. I always recommend buying from this store, as their website layout, customer service, positive views on sexuality, varied toy selection, and speed of shipping are unparalleled in my experience of toy stores.

Review: Babeland's Pocket Rocket

Free Aqua Wand Vibrator (w/ $80+ purchase)
Free Shipping (w/ $50+ purchase)
All purchases gift-wrapped
Treat a Loved One Today!

If you are in a quandary about what to get your honey or BFF for Valentine's Day, Babeland has your answer. Try one of their best-selling vibes or dildos, get a romantic lover's kit, or warm up with some of their sexy foreplay essentials (lubes, massage oils, books, and bondage toys).

For a sweet gift under $30, I've tried out the Pocket Rocket. The first time I turned it on, the Pocket Rocket shot up to #2 on my list of Favorite Vibes Ever (second only to the unbeatable Orchid G, also from Babeland). This tiny vibe packs a punch!

The rocket vibe is only 4" long, which I love because I'm currently a resident in France and I honestly have nightmares about having to bring all my sexy toys home through customs (*internal groan*). This vibe is the first one that made me bring a sigh of relief--it will go through customs no problem. Tiny and discreet, the vibrator comes in a small box that will be disguised perfectly in your cosmetics bag as a lipstick or hand cream. If you have roommates, travel a lot, or have a nosy mother, this discreet vibe is for you!

Although the Pocket Rocket is small, its vibe packs a punch. It only comes with one speed, but I enjoyed it nonetheless--the vibration is much stronger and more intense than you'd expect from such a small toy. Since I enjoy stronger vibrations (ever since my Orchid G got me hooked), this toy was fantastic. It turned me on immediately and felt great. While I have yet to experience an orgasm with this toy, I still really enjoy the feel and find it great for foreplay. And practice makes perfect!

Another small innovation I loved was the cap-on, cap-off possibility. The plastic cap has nubs and can be used for a different pleasure sensation than the actual vibe, which gives a more intense feeling (I preferred with the cap). The plastic cap is a bit too hard for my taste, but this can be solved by holding it very lightly against the skin. If you like a lot of pressure, the cap is going to give you problems, so use it without!

The vibe uses a AA battery; I prefer vibes that can work on AA because the toys I have that work on N or watch batteries are a horrible pain to replace. The bottom section of the vibe twists off for easy battery insertion, but putting the section back on is another matter entirely. I had quite a terrible problem getting the bottom to stick back on without popping right back off. While this was annoying, eventually I did manage to shove the thing back together and it worked fine.

This vibe doesn't compare with my undying devotion to my Orchid G, but it is still a fun, discrete toy with a strong vibration. The petite, manageable size and easy-to-disguise discretion of the vibe make it a unique purchase.

If you're interested, go to Babeland and check out the Pocket Rocket ($28) and other sweet V-day gifts.

Review: Laya the Land Kit

Laya the Land Kit from Good Vibrations is one of the store's great package deals. This one includes its namesake, the vibrator Laya, a bottle of Good Vibration's Please Cream Lubricant, and a 0.5-oz jar of Please Stimulating Cream.

First, the Laya vibrator is a pretty, small vibrator that has become very popular on the sex toy market lately. For such a tiny thing, I was super impressed by how many speeds she has--7 different speeds and 3 pulsing rhythms! Laya is made of elastomer (non-silicone), which is smooth and hypoallergenic. She is controlled by a simple button push: the plus (+) makes her go to the next speed, and the minus (-) slows her down. By herself she is $46 (comes in black, lavendar, pink, or blue) and the total kit is only $57.

So how did this kit measure up?

First off, BDSM beginners will love the stimulating cream, especially all you evil Doms and Masters out there! This is because not only does the cream stimulate, it burns! No, not in a painful, I'm-going-to-die-way, but in an ow-it-burns-I'm-at-your-mercy way. *evil grin spreads slowly*

I loved the cream at first sniff; not only is it cool and creamy, but it smells delicious. Citrus and spices, yum. The cream is supposed to be for your nipples and clit, so I first applied it there. Honestly, I couldn't feel a thing on my nipples, but on my clit I almost immediately felt it begin to burn. It wasn't terribly painful, just a tingle that kept at a low burning sensation for about 15 minutes. Wow! My devious mind went right to work, imaging how this could be incorporated into a scene.

True to character, I tried this out the next time I played with the cream. I tried it on my nipple again, this time with copious amounts of cream, but still nothing. On my clit, I felt it tingle and burn within 60 seconds, and like a good little scientist, even timed how long it kept burning (20 minutes, if you're wondering, though I could still feel it for a total of 30).

After feeling it on my clit, I figured it would burn this way in any orfice, and boy, was I right! With a Kleenex, I carefully applied some to the outside of my anus, and, wow!, was I not disappointed! Immediately my entire nether regions burst into glorious flames. I only wished my Dom had been there to enjoy it! It was great. I highly, highly recommend this cream for some fun play! Doms, it will give your sub a little pain and punishment, suitable even for beginners. Painsluts aren't going to like this cream alone, because honestly the burn is not that bad (on a 1-10 scale, only a 4 on the clit and about a 6 on both the clit and anus), but you could do amazing things for sadism and pain play with this stuff... apply it liberally to your sub's clit and bum, then whip her ass deliciously, or fuck her tight, burning little body while she screams for you, or simply make her scurry around the house and do your dishes while you watch her squirm in delicious pain and pleasure. Hot!

The Pleasure Cream lube did not thrill me like the sensation cream, but it was still good. The lube is white, the consistency of sunblock, and completely odorless. Of course, it was a bit messy so I'd recommend keeping some Kleenex or baby wipes by the bed during play.

As for the Laya, I was very impressed by this little vibe's kick and versatility! For such a small vibe, you get a wonderful array of sensations. Users have 7 speeds they can choose from, and then at the highest speed you can choose from among 3 different pulsation patterns. I had so many options I just couldn't choose, and went back and forth from low to medium to high, to pulse, and back again. I think there is something for everyone here!

The only issues I had with Laya are her shape, touch-button control, and external-only use. Her shape is small, and curved a bit too much to comfortably fit my vulva, so I had to wiggle around a bit to find where I wanted to hold her. After a while I got the hang of it, but she is still small, and her strongest vibe is at her base, so you have to choose between "entire vulva, with vibes too low" or "only higher on the clit" positions. I was looking forward to having my entire vulva stimulated, and Laya did, but then the top of the vibe (weakest vibration) was on my clit and the bottom, vibrating part was wasted on lower regions. If I wanted a vibe right on my clit, I had to move Laya up. Also, when I got really turned on and started gripping the vibe, my hand would hit the battery cap and Laya would turn off!

Her touch-button control was both a blessing and a curse. I loved that she was so simple to navigate through all her thrilling vibrating capabilities! However, if Laya is resting on your mound and vulva, you have to remove her, change the speed, and replace her--or you have to push the plus button where it is, pressing the entire hard plastic surface into your mound, which hurts. A remote control, or some control mechanism somewhere not touching the most delicate part of my body would be nice.

Finally, because of Laya's unique shape, she is great to press against your vulva, clit, and mound, but no more. Those of you that need internal stimulation as well, or need your clit stimulated directly--not through the hood--will obviously not be huge fans of an external-only vibe. My favorite vibes are ones that can slip between the inner lips to tantalize my clit directly, and this is difficult to achieve with Laya. However, for a varied experience, and to get a great new orgasm from having your lips and vulva caressed as well, Laya is a great pick!

A side note: I have tried Laya with and without the stimulating cream, and while the cream burns but does not turn me on alone, it certainly made for a better and faster turn-on when used in conjuction with the vibe!

For the price, I think this kit is a good buy. I love Good Vibrations; it is a very woman-friendly, sex-friendly store with great customer care and wonderful products. If you are new to vibes, or getting bored with your internal-only experiences, Laya will be a dainty little addition to your sexual repertoire. Whether you like feather-light touches or a firmer pulse, there is something in there for everyone. And remember, you get the lube and absolutely amazing stimulating cream thrown in therewith her, too. Hold her against yourself and let her varied speeds and pulses take you away!

Go to Good Vibrations and check out the Laya the Land Kit and other great sex toys!

Review: Ella

Ella is a two-ended dildo made by the luxury pleasure object company, Lelo. Lelo, a European company whose motto is "Lelo: lust objectified," manufactures high-end, luxury sex toys known for their superb quality and name brand. Since Lelo offers high-quality products ranging from $50 to $1,600, I was understandably thrilled when I discovered I would get the opportunity to review a much-coveted Lelo product!

Ella is Lelo's only dildo, and I had heard great reviews on other sex educators' websites. Frankly, I couldn't wait to try it!

I have loved working with Lelo for reviewing Ella. The customer service representative always answered my emails within a few days and was super friendly and polite. They were as thrilled to have my business as I was to try their product!

From the moment you enter the Lelo site, you can tell this company is a far cry from the seedy, pornography-inspired sex sites you often find on the internet. Rather than selling a huge number of sleazy, low-cost items seen in porn and many sex shops, Lelo offers a small array of high-end, class sexual toys, each one of highest quality and with a one-year guarantee. Some of their pleasure objects even come in steel or gold plating! This is luxury objectified. The website is classy, elegant, and refined; it is available in multiple languages and simple to navigate. Prices are given in euros, but a quick "euro to [dollar]" search on Google gives the amount in other currencies with the single click of a button.

Needless to say, I was beyond excited when I found out I was getting a Lelo product of my very own. Thanks to UPS's wonderful package tracking service online, I eagerly followed my package's progress from China, through Korea, through Poland and Germany, and eventually, to my residence in France.

Opening the package, I was not disappointed. Ella came in a classy box that far surpassed the plastic wrapping of other sites. She came with her own instruction manual (in multiple languages) and a chic satin pouch for travel. With the dildo itself I was not disappointed. Ella was small, thin, and sleek. While she comes in black, white, and deep rose, mine was deep black. Her exterior felt smooth and soft to my hand, and was obviously made from high-quality materials.

So would I recommend Ella? Absolutely. I am not as big a fan of dildos as I am of vibrators, but Ella is a fantastic dildo. First and foremost, she is double-ended, meaning you are really receiving two dildos for the price of one. One end is tapered almost to a rounded point, useful for tradition penetration, and the other is curved to perfectly stimulate the G-spot, which it absolutely does.

For all practical purposes, I found Ella easy to use. Both ends were easy to grip, providing a slip-free surface as I enjoyed two different sensations, one after the other. Ella fit inside comfortably, and the G-spot stimulation was direct and intense. I could even use her without lubricant, although after a while the hard in-and-out motions made me sore and I needed lube. The only minor problem I had with Ella was, during traditional penetration, the tapered end comes almost to a rounded point, which was painful when pushed all the way in and out, hitting my cervix. I wouldn't recommend trying to reach record depths with a dildo that has a point--even a rounded one.

While Ella is a great addition to anyone's collection, I would especially recommend her for beginners, as her sleek size and thin shape are ideal for those beginning the wonderful world of dildos. For men wanting to treat your special lady to a luxurious treat, this is the toy for you! Best of all, Ella comes at a fantastic price: 34 euros (about 46 US dollars), which is a great bargain and well worth it to become the proud owner of a fashionable Lelo product!

For more information on Ella and other fantastic Lelo products for both men and women, please visit the Lelo website. I assure you this company's products will be worth the cost. In fact, Lelo is even offering free shipping on all products until January 7, 2009. Enjoy, and go pamper yourself!

Review: The Hummingbird

The Hummingbird from Babeland Toys (also called the Clit Hummer) is a waterproof vibe made of hard plastic. Babeland sells it for $20, and other sites for a little more.

I'll start with the positive reviews first. I was really excited to get this toy! The site says the cupped side can be used to "cradle the clit" and the nub to "pinpoint pleasure." It sounded like a fantastic idea! Also, this vibe, which runs on 2 AA batteries, has a super smooth vibration with a really varied range of speeds; I love this feature. It is great to go from a gentle whisper to a powerful shake, and this toy has that versatility. Also, it is super quiet! Even on its highest settings, the vibration stays smooth and the noise level is a gentle hum. It's also waterproof and easy to clean.

On the negative side, this vibe didn't do for me what it was supposed to: deliver consistent orgasms. I was disappointed that the "clit cradle" experience was actually just rather ho-hum (pun intended). Of course, different vibes work for different women, but this just didn't work for me. Sometimes I would enjoy the sensation, and sometimes I just would lie there waiting and staring at the ceiling, but I rarely orgasmed. I do feel it fair to mention that this vibe did give me one amazing orgasm. I'm not sure what was different that day (alignment of the stars? I was more turned on?), but out of nowhere, the low vibrations began to turn me on, and when I turned it up to high, I was immediately shaken by an earth-shattering, long-lasting O. It was hot! However, after several weeks of play sessions, that one lone O remains an isolated event I have been unable to replicate. In fact, usually playing with this toy is pretty blah. Sometimes I get turned on, but for such a genius design idea, I am often left wondering what I'm doing wrong.

Now, today as I prepared for my review, I was browsing photos and other reviews. Since I'd assumed the nub was for clit play, I'd been using it that way and was unimpressed. So you can imagine I was surprised to learn it is also made for the G-spot. I gamely tried it out, and again got so-so results. First, this vibe is hard. It is not made for comfortable insertion. I used lube, relaxed, breathed slowly, and proceeded carefully. Needless to say, the hard plastic and funky shape aren't really made for vaginal insertion, and I would never recommend it for fucking. It reminded me a lot of a trip to the ob-gyn, and not in a good way.

Once inside, I found the large shape and strong vibe pleasurable. I experimented with different positions, trying to find my G-spot, but when rotating it had to be very careful about that pesky nub. It simply isn't vagina-friendly. It was a turn on, but still no O, and for several minutes after use my insides were sore from that hard plastic nub. So, I would give it a big thumbs-down for internal use; find something softer and smoother.

Overall, I wasn't thrilled with this vibe, which was a disappointment. However, for just 20 bucks, it is worth a shot just to see if you like it, since "different strokes for different folks" and all that. Plus, I would say it is a great stocking stuffer or bachelorette party gift since it is pretty, comes from a great company, and super cheap. Overall, I would say avoid it for yourself and invest in something more expensive, smoother, and made of softer material. Happy humming!

Review: Orchid G Vibrator

The Orchid G (shown here) is a vibrator from Babeland Toys designed to hit the G-spot. Reviews on the manufacturer's site were raving to say the least. You can buy it for just $22, or get the Orchid G + Female Ejaculation book combo for $29. (Click to see my review of the Female Ejaculation book, which I thought was mediocre at best.)

I was excited to try out this vibrator, and I haven't been disappointed.

I will say if you're looking for a great G-spot stimulator, this probably isn't your best choice. So far, I haven't been wowed by any great feelings on my G-spot, even after using it both with and without vibrations. I couldn't get it in without lube, and once in it felt nice... I could feel it touching my G-spot, and it did turn me on, but nothing earth-shattering ever happened.

However.

And this is a big, "HOWEVER."

This vibe is actually fantastic for clit stimulation! While that is not its primary purpose, the Babeland site did mention in passing it could be used for clit stimulation. In my opinion, they did their toy a disservice! They should have raved infinitely about how easily this vibrator will make newbies to the vibrator world have an orgasm.

With the Orchid G, I've been able to consistently stimulate my clit to orgasm. Being an anti-mess and anti-germ freak, I love not having to touch myself with my hands. I say "consistently," so of course it's not all the time: I'd say about 2/3 of the time I have an orgasm, or about 66%. While this isn't 100%, it is still, oh...about sixty-two percent higher than any males I've met, so I'm not complaining!

Now for the technical side. The vibe is water resistant but not water proof, so not shower or hot-tub safe. :( It is made of nonporous materials and I easily cleaned it with soap and water. It takes two AA batteries, which I haven't run through yet. One downfall is it is pretty loud for such a small vibe. For those of us with roommates or housemates, this is not good! I had to use a blanket over me to muffle the sound. Other drawbacks are it heats up during long use and sometimes makes a shaking sound like something is rattling around in there loose. A great feature is the vibe easily goes from a super-soft vibration to a harder one. At first I found the harder speeds to be too much for me, but gradually I've begun to need a harder sensation as I get used to the vibe. I like to go back and forth between speeds so my clit doesn't get desensitized, and my only regret is that eventually the vibe heats up from use.

I would definitely recommend this vibe for those curious about vibes or clit play. The vibe isn't perfect, but it's a good buy for the money (just $22!!!) so treat yourself or your sweetie to an early Merry Christmas and buy the Orchid G!
