Review: Babeland's Naturals Organic Lube

If you're a green girl like me, you like products that are natural, not tested on animals, and good for you.

My newest review product is Babeland's Naturals Organic Lube. I love reviewing lube because it is so useful and fun, something you can use every time you have sex no matter if you're alone with your favorite vibe, jacking off your partner, or having regular ole sex.

I really enjoyed this lube. Of course, for me, Mrs. Animal Rights Activist, the not-tested-on-animals bit was a big plus right from the start. I'm always amazed at the sheer number of commonly used products that use animal testing, and I'm sure people wouldn't use them if they knew animal cruelty was involved.

Aside from the definite plus-plus-plus of being animal-cruelty free (PETA would be proud of this lube), I enjoyed it. The organic lube is thicker than some other lubes I've tried, including KY Touch and Entice by Babeland (one of my favorites), but not as thick as jellies or creams. Since I prefer the thinner lubes, this one got high marks from me.

The lube comes in an easy-to-use squirt jar, which is a lot easier to use quickly in the midst of sex than bottles that you have to open and close. It has a slightly sweet, clean scent, and worked like a charm. I used this with my husband and have used it several times with my favorite vibe, with no complaints either time. In fact, I enjoyed this lube because it is mess-free and easy to wipe up once you're done.

But in the end, the greatest thing about this lube was that it is eco-friendly, green, animal-cruelty free, and natural, and still works and feels and smells just like regular lube. In fact, it was listed as #1 on the New York Times' list of Eco-Friendly Sex Aids. That's right, this lube made national news!

Breast Cancer and Lubes!

It's October, and that means it's Breast Cancer Awareness month. It's time to support all the stores out there who are supporting women, and there are a lot of them. Some of these stores include NFL, Home & Gardens, Babeland, Twitter, and more!

For all you women out there, here's how to do a self-breast exam. Doing this simple procedure once a month can help protect you from breast cancer by finding the warning signs early.

Now, I don't use condoms, so I can't be any help to you there (but all products have customer reviews at the bottom of the page), but I am a very picky lube user, so I'm excited about this sale. I am picky about lubes because both my Dom and I have sensitive skin. We didn't know this until we tried two varieties of lube (from a store other than Babeland) that were perfectly fine for vaginal use but that stung like MAD during anal use. And let me tell you, there is no less sexy way to end a BDSM session than when I have to jump up and run to the bathroom before I scream. Not only did it disappoint us both, but I totally lost any arousal we'd had worked up. So the moral of this story? Only use lubes that you trust.

My favorite, favorite lubricant ever is Entice by Babeland. My Dom and I love it since it's clear, colorless, odorless, and easy to use. And the best thing about it is that it is completely comfortable and painless, even with anal use. Any time we use sex toys, dildos, butt plugs, or even when we tried fisting, we used Entice. Anyway, because I don't believe in sending my readers to buy batteries and condoms online when they could get them at their local grocery store for cheaper and without the shipping costs, I went online and checked out some prices for AA batteries like the ones Babeland sells. I was surprised (and impressed), but Babeland actually sells their batteries at the same mark-up as major stores like Walmart. So you won't lose money by buying your condoms and batteries there, especially with the 25% Stock Up and Save discount, and you'll definitely get a better quality lubricant than you'll find in local pharmacies and sex shops. Review: Entice lubricant

Entice is my new favorite lubricant!

I've had a hard time finding a lube that both my Dom and I like. The biggest problem, of course, is how it feels inside.... and our current lube, when used on him anally, inflamed the sensitive anal tissues and actually stung. Needless to say, that stopped our anal exploration for a while!

Since a good lubricant is a must have for anal, and his reaction to our current lube was, "It stings!", I was looking for a new option. Also, the other lube was thick and creamy, disgustingly sticky, and burned me a bit, too (when used anally, although not vaginally---who knows why???).

So I was excited to try this out! I've loved Entice so far. It is water-based and perfect for people with sensitive skin, which both my Dom and I have. It comes out of the bottle cold, so warm it up on your hands before applying it to skin, but it is slick and wet. Although in the high-heat, high-friction situation of hand jobs, the lubricant dried out quickly and left a sticky residue, in all other situations (sex, anal + finger, anal +toy, vagina + toy), Entice has held up great! It is easy to apply, soft, and with no weird aftertaste and no bad smell. It is also slick rather than sticky, so I appreciate that, since I'm a girlie-girl at heart and hate to have sticky stuff all over my hands.

Another bonus? The glass bottle is easy to clean... since, of course, when you grab it with sticky, lubed-up hands mid-sex, it gets lube and body fluids all over it. Just a simple rinse takes care of it and the bottle is as good as new!

Lubricants

Did you know some lubes are dangerous for your health, can cause yeast infections, and can cause condoms to break? So how do you know which ones to use?

First, there are two types of lube you should never buy: anal desensitizing lube, and lubes with Nonoxynol-9 (N-9). There are many sex toy stores that sell these lubes, and you should never purchase from these stores. Anal desensitizing lube can cause real internal damage by numbing you to pain intended to warn you something is wrong. Lubes with N-9 claim to help prevent against pregnancy and HIV, but actually increase the risk of HIV and STDS by creating tiny tears and abrasions inside the vagina and anus. Some good stores that don't sell these lubes and care about their customer's health are Babeland and Good Vibrations.

There are three main types of lubricants: water-based, oil-based, and silicone-based.

Water-based lubes are thinner, safe for your body, and easy to clean afterwards. They are safe to use with condoms and other latex products, as well as with sex toys. Sometimes, however, they can be too thin and dry out too soon for anal play.

Oil-based lubes aren't safe to use with condoms or latex. Oils can also disrupt the amount of healthy bacteria in the vagina, causing infections.

Silicone-based lubes feel more like oil, but are safer for your body. You can use them safely internally, and they tend to be thicker and longer-lasting, so better for anal play. You can't use them with your silicone sex toys, though, or the chemicals will react and melt your toy! Also, these can be harder to wash out afterwards.

Sweet or flavored lubes often have their fruity, sweet taste because they contain glycerin. This sugary lube can cause yeast infections in some women, since sugar disrupts the balance of healthy vaginal yeast. So women, be wary of sweet-tasting or fruity lubes!

Also, "do-it-yourself" lubricants are usually not a good idea; stick to water- or silicone-based lubricants from a store. Crisco, baby oil, hemorroid cream, vaseline, and other over-the-counter oils may seem like a good idea because they feel slick, but the oil inside will cause your condoms to fail, and can cause infections when used vaginally. They are also really hard to clean out afterward. Spit dries out too fast and leaves your skin even drier than before.

If you self-lubricate a lot during vaginal intercourse; congratulations! Stick with a thick lube (like Maximus) for anal and you will be set. If you need vaginal lubrication, too, you might want to buy a thinner lube as well, or consider buying a lube sampler from Babeland.
